VMWare: Can’t Ping Host
by admin on Jun.29, 2012, under Random()
Today I ran into a problem where I wasn’t able to ping a VMWare guest system from my host. The virtual machine was set up under VMware® Workstation 8.0.0 build-471780.
I read in order to resolve this issue I’d have to set the network type of the guest’s network to Bridged: Connected directly to the physical network and I should also tick Replicate physical network connection state because my host system is a laptop.
I then rebooted the guest machine and noticed I still was unable to ping the virtual machine from my host system.
Later I decided to disable the guest system’s Windows Firewall and rebooted it.
After the guest system had rebooted successfully I was finally able to ping the guest. Win! 😀

your post is simply marvelous !!!
It took me hours to resolve issue. I have created 2 VM’s one with Windows 2003 AD and other with Windows 2012 to check the migration in Test environment before moving towards production environment.
Was unable to ping Windows 2012 vm from guest os and win 2003 machine.
thanks once again
