TeamSpeak 3 Server unreachable over the Internet (fix)

by on Mar.18, 2013, under Random()

I’ve got several rootservers and tried to move my TeamSpeak 3.0 server from one server to another. Everything seemed to work fine and I could access my server just fine, but unfortunately the server was inaccessible via the internet.

The new rootserver was a Windows Server 2008 R2 and so I was like: Oh yeah let’s disable them firewallz, so I just headed over to the search box, typed “Windows Firewall” and selected the one which was called Windows-Firewall (not the one with extendet security) and disabled it for testing purposes.

However, it still didn’t work. But I wanted to TeamSpeak so bad. So I went to the adapter settings for my ethernet adapter and disabled IPv6 (well I hardly used that shit anyway since my server’s public addresses are IPv4 addresses).

I tried to connect and yet again, it just failed for unknown reasons. I couldn’t access my beloved TeamSpeak server and the situation started to piss me off. But after browsing the internet for a while I finally managed to find a working solution. Since my server has got multiple IP addresses I had to manually specify the one TeamSpeak should bind to. This can be acomplished by starting the server like this:

ts3server_win32.exe voice_ip=176.58.xxx.xxx

Magically everything worked flawless after launching it with this startup parameter (replace the IP address with your own public IP).
